Hello from Chicago

Hello everyone - my name is Jesse. I've been riding for as long as I can remember. As a kid growing up in Maine I rode my Specialized Rockhopper for hours on end, on road, off road, for miles of dirt roads, up mountains, along fields... I've been living in the city of Chicago since 1998, I miss the mountains and the hills in Maine but I do love riding along the lake front bike path and riding in Bike the Drive. I've been using the same bike that I've had since the early 90's - a Schwin Paramount steel frame 10 speed. I'm looking to get a new bike this summer - got my eye on a Specialized Allez Compact, and although I've come across this forum from time to time via google searches I joined today because I want access to a good community for advice and knowledge. See you on the road!

No I don't, I don't think I can handle it. A lot of it is needing the right equipment, I don't have the right clothing for it. I see a few brave souls out there every year, if it wasn't for the wind chill it wouldn't be so bad. I try to start a little earlier each year, depending on weather. How about you? Winter riding in New York?

Yes I ride in the winter, but New York City's winter is not as brutal as upstate (northern)NY or Chicago
