New guy

Hey everyone
Recently wanted to get into mountain biking to try and get back in shape. Been out of the Army for 3 years now and have been struggling to get back in the shape I was when I served. Friend of mine told me to give road biking a try so here I am. Been riding about 3 weeks now and I am HOOKED. Over the last 3 weeks of riding i have had so much fun riding. did 27 miles yesterday in 1:45. by no means a rock solid time but its a start for me. Such great excercise and stress relief. I bought a cheap $400 bike of BD just to make sure this wouldnt be another one of my 3 month hobbies that try to fill the void I have from leaving the Army but i have to say i think i found what im looking for. If i stick with it till winter the plan is to buy a frame and build my own bike and learn more about the sport along the way.

any suggestions about anything at all are greatly appreciated. i think i may subscribe to a bike magazine to help me learn about brands, tips and everything else.

Hello Leroy,

Welcome to Bike Forums from a Texas road rider.

You can get much help in most of the forums on BF.

Best to ask specific questions and add links when asking about items and parts.

Look around and have fun posting and buliding your bike.

Wow, glad to see that you found your new hobby! It is addicting, you will see! But to be honest with you, I think you will learn a lot more from here than from any magazine. Here, you can ask a question and get instant answers!

Welcome to Bike Forums and have fun!
