Helllo! And maybe some help on a Centurion?

Hello everyone!
I live in the Philadelphia area, and I have increasingly become interested in bikes! I have very little expertise and knowledge and when I was looking for a used road bike for my boyfriend I found myself always looking for what people thought in this forum. So I figure I should join!
I am now looking for a used road bike for myself. Entry level, nothing fancy just to get around town but a bit on the lighter side cause I live in a second floor. I found this bike online. Is it worth it?

Thanks!

Memh, I think you could do better. For you, the problem would be the weight ( It doesn't look light) and the low price is masking pricey needed repairs, starting with the rusty chain clearly visible in picture, and then the brake pads, and then the cables, and so on. I could see an additional $50 just to make it rideable and $100 if you add an upgrade of the levers and brakes to make it safe for city riding.

I think $175 would be better spent on this one https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/bik/3201223175.html

Welcome to the forums!

Thank you so much for the advice. Yeah I think I'm gonna keep looking. I'm not really much of a fan of the hybrid styles, even though the roads in Philly do call for that. It's almost like riding on dirt roads. I will be back for some more advise on my search for a bike ;-) Thanks again!
