New/Old Retro Classic Rider in Nashville
Cheers,
I am a 45 year old getting back into cycling. I've been off for five years. I used to ride my old rigid mountain bike on the Silver Comet Trail in Atlanta, and had a great time. But when I moved to Nashville in 2007, I stopped. Then I gained about 40 pounds.
I got back into it a couple of months ago. Cycling, some weight training, and eating right resulted in a loss of 53 pounds. I found a 1987 Cannondale SR-400 "Team Comp" at a garage sale for $85. The previous owner had upgraded everything to Shimano 600, and it's got Mavic MA-40 wheels. I've never ridden a road bike before, but this one feels great to me - extremely rigid, zero flex in any plane, and when I pedal it hard, it flies.
I'd still like a new road bike, but instead, I decided to ride this retro Cannondale for a year and improve the rider rather than the bike. Then we'll see next year...
