Hello from Kansas

Greetings--

I'm a lifelong biker 68 years old already. I've enjoyed 17 parties-on-wheels while Biking Across Kansas and toured with friends in several other states. I try to ride at least 5-10 miles every day I can. I have a 1991 Bridgestone RB-T and a 1993 Bridgestone XO-2 that I enjoy, although I've also pedaled two Rans recumbents in the past.

My new fascination is folding bikes (especially the Brompton M6L and the Dahon Smooth Hound)--although there is little multi-modal transportation where I live and I can and do haul two bikes on the back of my car whenever I want to bike beyond this region. I dunno--maybe it's the innovative designs, the concept that less may be more or perhaps my upside down sense of aesthetics.

This year I also got out sailing 20 times on my Barnett 14--one of a dozen dinghies I've enjoyed over the years. Another love is kayaking and canoeing. My high point was paddling the Grand Canyon in 1991--16 days with 16 people (private trip) covering 225 miles, with more than 100 named rapids.

Peace,

Dave Redmon

Welcome! I recently found a sweet Bridgestone Grandtech folder. It is amazing, 700c wheels and all. Still fairly light at 26 lbs. I understand your passion, they are cool!

Howdy from OK. Sounds like you'll fit in nicely into a bunch of forums here with your background. I'm sure the C&V crowed would love to see pics of your bikes. And we've got a few sailors and kayakers that like to congregate down in the Lounge in a place we call Foo.

Welcome to BF from another old timer. I'll be 68 in a few weeks.
Stop by the 50+ forum and say hello. Also check into the 65+ section if you want to chat with the more "mature" members. ;)

Hey Dave, welcome to Bike Forums. I will turn 59 after the dawn of 2013.

I spent 4 years in your town from 1977 to 1981. How bout them Wildcats? Who would have thought. Congrats on the bike history and enjoyment you get from this pedal sport we share. Post some picture sometime, something around Tuttle Puddle maybe.
