So Happy to be Here!
Hi Everyone,
I live in Toronto, Canada and like all of you, am nuts about cycling. What a great forum for us gal riders.
I have been riding recreationally for the past 4 years. I tried a newbie triathalon at the age of 48, 2 years ago. Just recently upgraded my OCR 3 to a new Giant TCR Composite 2. The bike shop modified this carbon beauty to be more women specific for my small frame and put on a compact crank to help with the monster hills at my cottage. Now to find a good women's seat!
I do have a bit of a handi cap, in that I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. Thankfully, cycling is something I can do with this. My new meds are keeping the RA down, so I hope to put on a lot of kms. once the snow and ice are gone here.
Nice to have found you.

Hi Cycle Nut! Glad you're here. I'm a newbie, almost 49yo gal, w/RA also. Luckily meds are keeping me riding. You live in a beautiful city! Been there several times. I'm down in B'ham, Al. Just thought I'd say hi!

By which I mean NOT the ones in the gym.
Perhaps the tide is changing - it's about time it did.
Modern bikes are superb and the ladies have been quick to take advantage of this.
The tide always changes first at the edges, meanwhile the blokes are still in the mainstream blundering about in SUV's trying to make some sort of power statement to the world.
Let's hope they take notice of what the ladies are doing.
If they want to impress them they need a bike.
Cheers Ted

Hey Ted,
Thanks for the warm welcome. I must say I am all smiles, when I see another gal on a bike! And so many on the forum. I totally agree with you..... my head turns to see who's riding a bike, not who's driving the SUV.
The tides are a changing.
Take care, Sharon

Hi spinhappy,
Thanks for the welcome. Same goes to you. I am happy to read that you are able to ride with your RA. Thank God for the meds! Do you mountain bike or road ride? The rough off road trails would do my joints in for sure.
When I was looking for a new bike, I was looking for something I could shift without too much stiffness. My wrists were misbehaving this past summer and even braking hurt the wrists and hands on my old bike.
How are you doing?
Take care, Sharon

Welcome to the club, this is a great forum. Just discovered it a few months ago. Sounds like you have a beautiful bike. Spring is coming....sometime! Can't wait for warmer weather, drier roads, but, I'll ride no matter what.

My wife has osteo, but can do a 25 mile ride at age 67.
