Introduction from "Mavic Zack"
Hello all -
I'm the communications manager for Mavic, Inc, here in the USA. I have bounced around on some of the other forums and also on Facebook. Now it's time to dip a toe in the BikeForums.net waters. I'm here to answer questions regarding Mavic. I won't try to push one thing or the other, but if you have factual questions about the company or the products, I will do my best to answer in a factual manner. Private message is a great way to find me, since I will only check the forum once or twice a week. A bit about me - been doing this for the last 2 years or so. Riding since 1990. Currently ride Cannondale and Yeti. Live in Golden, CO with great access to the mountains. (Mavic, Inc is based in Massachusetts and Mavic SAS in Annecy, France). I will try to append some bike photos up here as soon as I can get the thing cleaned up! thanks, - zack |
Hey Zack, love the Mavic name. Check in with the Mountain Bike forum. Mavic get tossed around in the discussion from time to time. Yeti sponsors one of the MODs that hangs in the MTB thread. Stinking DH wild man.
Golden, CO-rough winters, great summers for biking. I used to live in Littleton and Golden was a great get away. Welcome aboard. |
Welcome Zack. All my bikes (past and present) have had Mavic wheels. Great products. :thumb:
I wear Sidi Mega (wide feet). Do you carry wide road shoes? Can you post something about your shoes? |
Welcome aboard :)

Hello Ron H
Thanks for asking about shoes. As a matter of fact, for the first time in 2013 we have introduced 3 shoe models in a Maxi size. (not feminine products, that's French for "wide"). We've now got Zxellium ($325), Avenir ($125), and Rush (MTB, $125) in Maxi sizes. I've got wide feet too and I use the Zxellium Maxi. It's outstanding in terms of offering extra volume. The added width across the widest point at the toebox in strict terms is just 2mm , but it's +10mm in circumference at the widest point. Doesn't sound like a lot, but makes a MASSIVE difference for people like me with wide, square feet. Thanks again and see you around ... |
Thanks. I'll check them out. :thumb:

I'm curious in trying out some of the mavic shoes. I currently use a size 46 Bont Vaypor, no complaints and fit good enough, just like any somewhat normal human curious to see if the grass is greener on the other side and since the road off-season is about upon us, I figure I start looking.
The Huez, and Zxellium models interest me. Plan is if they fit, to get both, Zxellium for training/flatter racing and Huez's for hillier events. It seems the size 46 or 46.5 would be the way to go. Do you know of any outlets near Golden,CO that would carry those models. I have heard the fit can be narrow, just hoping not as narrow as the S-works shoes (good material/construction but didn't like fit). I have got along well when I tried on a pair of 46 or 46.5 Sidi Ergo's (those I have heard are narrow but felt spacious to me). Let me know when you get a chance. |
Welcome to BF!
