Hello from Kenosha, Wisconsin

I'm a 50+ former fitness instructor (currently an Athena) who is hoping to regain my former fitness level by trying an activity that is new to me: bicycling. I'd also like to cut down use of my car by biking to work. I haven't been on a bike in years, although when I was a kid it was difficult to get me off my lime green bike with matching banana seat.

I've been lurking here for several days, hoping to do some research before I actually lay down money for a bike. From what I've read here, the first hurdle I need to overcome is my desire for my feet to touch the ground while I'm seated. That's going to be a big one. Even when I was a kid, I was afraid of falling and my feet had to touch the ground.

Good to be here!

Welcome aboard

There are bikes out there that allow for you to place your feet on the ground when stopped. Not the best for long distances or performance. Electra Townie would be a good example.
