G'day from WA via Brisbane
Hi I'm from Perth and I'm in Queensland for a while. Always had bikes as a kid and got back in the saddle to get to uni last year. Uni sucks and blows (at the same time) but I saved a lot of money in petrol bills and keep riding as my main form of transport. I'm 43 and I ride a 2005 Mongoose Crossway 850. The front forks are great but I've changed to click-on pedals to get more power
WARNING to any newcomers to Brisbane: THERE'S HILLS AROUND HERE!
I had a 2004 Mongoose Crossway 850 last year and sold it because I wasn't completely happy with the forks but now I think it might have been better to just buy new forks. (trouble is ya can't test ride them first) I'm looking for anyone who can comment on the '04 vs '05 Mongoose and any other hybrid - Giant, Avanti, Merida, Norco...
Other interests:
- Guitars
- Bushwalking
- Carpentry
- HUSABERGS
Looks like a great forum. Looking forward to any replies
Doug

I commute into Brisbane and did a fair bit of research last year before buying a Norco Corsa for the job. Built a spreadsheet of the basic specs of all available, happy to send it on if you like. I did not look at any suspended forks - Mongoose didn't get a look-in.
The Corsa is in for a problem with the cassette reverting, momentarily, to a fixed wheel, the XTR brakes need constant TLC to avoid squeal from the front and otherwise delighted with it - they don't seem to make 'em any more!!
Second choice the CRX1.
Enjoy the hills, easy to find one anyhow!
