Paramount Hardrock Etcetera

Hello everyone.

I commute near-daily, 11 mi round trip. I haul the bike in to work on Monday and leave the truck overnight as often as I can, giving me use of the truck during the day. I'm on a 2002 Specialized Hardrock which I bought new, now kitted out with a big Electra ding-dong bell, slick tires and a large tail bag. I find it a bit leaned over and small wheel and might replace it sooner or later with something like an FX.

But more importantly I'm putting my Dad's 1976 Schwinn Paramount P10-9 back together. Although some marketing said 1-1/4 tires, I found that Panaracer Pasela 630-32 tires very nearly don't fit. But supposedly there were optional fenders. Go figure.

At one point I had a slick little Cannondale CAAD-something Saeco team replica bike. Bought used, sold for profit. Never learned much about it but liked the speed. Sold when I had some health problems that prevent me from really pushing my limits.

Hi Darth, welcome to BF, it seems you have your commuting down to an art. We have a good commuting forum here, you should check in to it. The Paramount is one very sought after bike, go to the Classic and Vintage Forum and start a thread, with some pictures of your dad's bike, they will enjoy seeing another Paramount that is being well loved and cared for. Best wishes on your future cycling.

Bill

Thanks peoples!

I wouldn't say it's well loved and cared for yet. I'm working on it! When it's roadworthy I'll start with the photos.
