New Rider in Alabama
Greetings,
Just wanted to stop by and introduce myself to everyone. I'm Scott and I just recently bought my 1st mountain bike since I was 10 or 11 years old. I began a weight-loss journey in December of 2012 at a weight of 358lbs. Today I am down to 288lbs. I woke up the other morning and decided I wanted to get a new bike and just explore and get some exercise while I'm doing it. I made a phone call to a good friend of mine that competes in Triathlons and he highly recommended the Specialized Hardrock for a good starter bike. He sent me over to Bike Link in Hoover, Alabama where I ended up purchasing a new Specialized Hardrock Sport Disk 29'er. I've rode it about 6 miles or so already and absolutely love it. I'm really looking forward to continuing this health and fitness journey and I'm also looking forward to learning as much about the sport as I can from all of you.

Hi Scott, welcome to the gang here at BF, That Hardrock is a really nice bike, it will serve you well. Your weight loss is impressive, kudos on the work. If you haven't already done so, visit the Clydesdale and Athena Forum, you'll find a lot of others doing the same thing you are for their weight loss activities using bikes. We have a Southeast Regional Forum where you can find others in the Hoover area to ride with. Best of luck with the continued fitness and weight loss.
