Greetings from Canada

Hello Everyone,

I'm a 56 year old educator living in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. My interest in biking was rekindled last summer as part of an active lifestyle change following angioplasty and a stent. I commute about 10 kilometers and when our harsh winters strike I walk to & from work until the snow plows break trail. Our "small town" city of 35,000 is not cycling friendly - Having survived a hit & run at a busy intersection last fall, I have become an advocate for cycling awareness and safety.

Mostly ride a pair of 2011 GT Traffic Hybrids (24 speed & single speed) and an entry level GT Hardtail (winter, bad weather & utility bike). Avoid using a motor vehicle when possible and practical (sometimes it takes a Jeep to get around here in the winter). Considering a Fat Tire bike for winter riding, but doubt it could handle our bad weather days any better than my Hardtail.

Hope to meet new friends on the forums and get some advocacy ideas.

Hello Grant, welcome to BF from another 50+ rider, same age as you. you should check in at the 50+ Forum and see what we are about in the cycling world. It is a very active and laid back forum, I enjoy it very much, they are supportive and helpful folks in there. We also have an advocacy and safety forum you may want to look in on, just watch out for the somewhat opinionated members, they don't bite though. Hope you enjoy the site and find a place that suits your cycling needs.
