Welcome Ed. I used to live in Sarasota and worked in Bradenton. You live near the power plant.? How are the roads there for cyclists, there on the "Gold Coast," was it not called.? Lived there in the 80's.

To answer both of your questions:
Parrish is a town located on the west coast of Florida, south of Tampa and North of Sarasota but conveniently located to both.
It's still kind of rural here but progress is creaping in little by little. I can get on some nice back roads here within minutes and ride to my hearts content.
If anyone is ever out this way I'm the non conformist cyclist with no helmet, no biking jersey or shorts just a guy out for a good sweat.

Hey Ed, welcome to the Forums. I'm down in Sarasota. I do some road riding but consider myself a mt. biker.
If you're interested, we do a ride every Thurs. evening down here off of Clark Rd. We leave right at 6:00 p.m. from the Winn-Dixie parking lot on Honore Ave. (Just west of the interstate), usually do 3 or 4, 8.5 mile loops. We are riding tonight and the manager of The Village Bike Shop and I ride there Saturday mornings as well.
I work at that shop on Saturdays.
BTW, this Saturday there is a Criterium Race in downtown Sarasota, starting at 2:00 and going till about 11:00. Should be fun!
