Hello from Albany, Oregon

Hi everyone,
My names Brian and am looking to get into this sport. I have a very energetic Wolamute dog and it's hard to give her enough exercise. I also need to exercise more so I'm thinking it's a win-win situation. We will need to get another bike in a few months for my wifey, she's pregnant now but wants to be able to exercise afterwards but she's had asthma her whole life but cycling seems to be safe for her. Cycling sounds great because we're able to get outdoors to exercise. Gyms are too expensive and you are inside the whole time. I currently don't have a bike but have been looking around for a week and reading and trying to learn what to get on a very low budget.

Hi Bshipper, welcome to BF, you can surf around the various forums to find the ones that best help you make your decision on a bike. Keep the Craig's List for your area in mind, good, solid buys are out there, just take your time and find a bike that fits you properly. I'll offer that you had best avoid the bike shaped objects that places like Wal-Mart and such sell, they will self destruct in short order and their fit is at best a crap shoot. The Local Bike Shops (LBS in BF speak) are another place to search out used bikes, find one that will listen to your needs and budget, not try and sell you a bike they need to move off the floor.

Best of luck on your search for you and your wife's bikes and on the upcoming arrival. Glad that you joined us here.
