fng on board

Hi all. i'm from the DC metro area. have recently returned to cycling as of Dec '12. bought my first road bike off craigslist for $200. an 89 3.0 crit cannondale. that got stolen three weeks later. i bought an '84 trek 620 after that and rode it for a while. then i found a nice white SR500 all original components and proceeded to ride the snot out of it for a few weeks and absolutely fell in love with the bike. seriously, it's next to my bed right now. creepy, right? i know....traded the trek(steel ain't so bad. it rode nice. had a mix of shimano crank, suntour xcm rd, shrade hurst fd and downtube shifters. some nice diacompe cantilevers, too) traded the trek for an '84 cannondale ST500 full suntour group, right down to the pedals. comfy!

turned off by most of the newer bikes, save for select cannondales and pinarellos. i have weird beer based taste in bikes, i guess. yes, i have two "vintage" cannondales but do not consider myself a trendy hipster. i don't ride fixie, don't judge those who do. some old bianchi track setups are pretty sweet and i'll probably pick one up, one day. oh god i'm rambling. so, i'm 37. a chef. fat. getting less fat. and now i'll start a new thread for what is probably an old subject and get yelled at by admin for not searching the forum for an old thread to bump. or bump an old thread and get yelled at by admin for raising the dead instead of just starting a new thread. nobody likes zombie threads. nobody.

ride safe.

Hi Pibber, welcome for another Cannondale guy, to BF. Take a look in the Classic and Vintage Forum for other with the same taste in bikes that you have. There are several Cannondale experts there, post some pictures of your bike so we can all drool over them. Check into the Regional Forums for the DC area so you can find others that are looking to set up rides and other cycling activities.

Bill

Welcome aboard, I'm in Ashburn, VA. We have few new members jumping on from the metro area. We should organize a n00b ride.

I'll start a thread in the northeast sub forum to see who would be interested.
