Fullerton, CA Fix Wananewbie

Hey!

Hope this message finds everyone well! Anyway, I've been riding for the past two years. Nothing serious. Just your typical weekend warrior. I've been on and off for the past eight months and got into really bad shape. I wanted to get serious at it and I thought of going back to basics by buying one of those single speed Electra. Just to get my butt moving again. While looking for reviews for that bike, I came across this website. It was here that I found out about fixed gear cycling. As I read though the Single Speed/Fixed Gear threads (out of curiosity), I got more and more interested in it. Needless to say, I forgot about the other bike and bought myself last week an early 90's road bike instead for conversion. (Of course with the horizontal dropouts, as I learned here.) Great website! Very informative. Thanks everyone!

jimi, welcome to the boards. I'm interested in fixed gear myself and try to make it up to LA for the Critical mass up there.

Some others have been thinking about creating a critical mass here in Orange County.

Let us know what you decide to do about which hub to use on the rear wheel.

Thank you! I'm still waiting for my tax refund so I could buy those wheels. I'm going for the wheelset being sold at benscycle.com. Its pretty much the best deal I've seen so far. Its got sealed formula hubs on them which I've read good reviews here. Hey, do you know where I could find small used frames here in OC? I bought a univega that was a bit big for me. Its just that it was clean and the guy gave me a really good deal for it. I would appreciate the input. Thanks!
I've heard of those critical mass ride but I've never been to one... I would be interested to check it out given the chance.
