Greetings from Omaha

New to the Forums and failed to introduce myself before posting in one of the other sections. My apologies to the admins! I got back into cycling a few years ago when I entered my first (and only so far) triathlon. Decided I liked the bike portion best and have kept up at it. Since then, I've pedaled on the GAP/C&O from Pittsburgh to DC, ridden my bikes as much as I can, moved to Nebraska, and... Well you get the idea.

Planning on doing as many local rides as I can. Also want to tackle BRAN and RAGBRAI. Started using my bikes for local transportation as well. INCREDIBLE gas mileage. Ultimately, I'm planning to ride across the continent with the woman who will be my wife by then.

Do a little bit of wrenching in my spare time, planning to volunteer with the local Community Bike Project.

As you may have gathered from my screen name, my other passion is kayaking. If you can't get there by pedal or paddle, is it worth going?

Enough about me. Let's ride!

Welcome to BF! Just out of curiosity--was your GAP/C&O Pittsburgh to DC tour self-contained or one of those guided/supported things?

It was semi-self-contained: I credit carded my way through, as it was my first solo touring effort. If I knew then what I know now, my tent would have been put to use.
