7.2 fix trek
Ok how should I start... I have a 7.2 fix I just replaced the tires to 700 X28 gator skins.. I mainly ride on streets sometimes on bike paths. The gearing to me ain't that great.. on long straights seemed so slow.. I'm paddlingso hard and here comes these road bike fly past me.. I think I need a smother gearing and need to upgrade. It seems to be fine Iin the Lower gears then Iit gets weird going up in gears... any advice 9th what gears to purchase.. and no I don't have to be as fast as a road ikeike

That bike has a really wide gear range. You should be able to find a gear for any speed. Perhaps your shifting needs a tune-up.
Road bikes really are faster no matter how hard you pedal. They have a riding position that's more aerodynamic and lets you pedal harder, and some other benefits. |
First, I would check to see if your bike needs a tuneup if you are having problems with some of your gears.
If everything is operating properly and you are still having issues, I would see if there is a bike skills class in your area. If not, I would just experiment with gears. If your feet are flying around the pedals and you feel like you aren't going anywhere, then shift to a harder gear. If your legs are tiring out, then shift down to an easier gear. |
Welcome aboard :)
When I first got my bike a few years ago, I was like you in that I thought the bike was "holding me back". Then someone pointed out the gearing calculator on Sheldon Brown's site. After plugging the numbers in... the bike wasn't holding me back after all :o |
Welcome to BF!
