Newbie from Western WA
I'm not only new to this site, but fairly new to cycling, as well. I have joined this site primarily for some guidance for a couple of things and would appreciate some help navigating this site on where to go.
1. I'm in pretty good shape, but from yoga and spin class type of things and need to start training for the 2014 STP, among several other rides I've signed up for this year. I want to continue with both of my current exercises programs, but does spin class really help?
2. This is my main concern, I'm getting braces for the first time and I'm concerned about what type of bars (ie: inKind, Cliff, etc) I'll be able to eat during my training and during the rides. Would anyone have any suggestions? My orthodontist is not a cyclist so I don't think I'm able to communicate with him what my nutritional/recovery needs will be during long rides such as the STP and Tour de Cure (etc). Is there anyone out there with ideas - other than just relying on the gel shots?
Thank you for taking the time to read my post!

Sounds like you could get answers in Training and Nutrition, or probably in Road Cycling as well.
And welcome to BF!
