Hey all! I'm from SC and was hoping to get into some casual cycling, maybe 3-4 days a week on a trail we have locally. Over the past few years I lost a good bit of weight and have been building up muscle now after losing most of it, and finally trying to get some good cardio in to get the final bit of body fat lowered. :) I was hoping to have something that could go off-road a bit but also be good to ride on the path for the trail. Should I ask in another section about what type of price ranges and new/used type questions?

Welcome. Sounds like you want a mtn bike with semismooth tread tires or a cyclocross bike.
The folks in the Road Cycling or General forums can help. If you're over 50 then the 50+ forum may be the place to ask.
