Greetings from Bonny Doon in the Santa Cruz mountains (CA, not Bolivia)

I've been riding since I was about 10 (40 years), somewhat seriously for the last 32, mainly recreational, touring (West Coast US and in UK), and commuting. Finally took up mtn biking about 8 years ago. Haven't commuted (apart from combined car/bike commute) for the last 4 years. I've been mainly on the mountain bike since breaking my ankle badly in Jan 2013, in recovery mode. Mostly recovered now. New road bike on the way from a local custom bike and frame builder (Caletti), so I am here mainly to re-learn how to ride and maintain the stable of hobby horses.

Vertically stiff yet laterally compliant.

The bike, or my mid-line? I bought it some Bianchi SPDs, new bar tape, tires and am looking for the original rubber hoods for the brakes. I also bought a big ugly adjustable handlebar stem which I could use instead of the Modolo (sp?) one, but I haven't tried it out. I have this fear of ruining the oeuvre, or whatever the Italian word is for it.

I hadn't really thought about it. PM me if you are interested. I have an "emotional" attachment to it but I can't get the kids interested in it.

I don't think either of us can pm because of our low-post count. I am a college student, so I couldn't afford it. Your kids are saying "no" to the bicycle version of a Ferrari...

I got it when I was a second-year grad student at Berkeley, and it cost me every last penny I had at the time.
