Back into bikes at 56

Greetings I'm a 56 y.o. male veteran who has lived all over the USA, born in CA, currently in WA. Riding since I was 4, but pretty much stuck with motorcycles for the last 40 or so until I sold my last bike (#41) last year. Wifey picked up a couple of Walmart Schwinn cruisers which I tore down and rebuilt, not trusting the quality/safety of mass produced stuff these days. Then my niece-in-law needed her old Sears Roebuck 5 speed rebuilt for her birthday, and BAM! I'm right back to tearing down and rebuilding bikes just like when I was a kid, with the same sense of satisfaction. 2 days ago my younger brother gave me a bike he had sitting in his storage shed, a castoff from a neighbor whose grandson had abused it for a few years. Turns out it's a 1999 Dahon Rockhard, 26" wheel, 21 speed folding mountain bike, and it's just funky enough that I'm really taken by it. Then this morning I happen to open CL and find a 1988 Dahon Classic III in excellent used condition for a price I could not pass up, now in the stable.

Hopefully this will be my longest post unless I really have something useful to say. Thanks for the site, forum, comradery, information, and opinions.

Welcome to Bike Forums. Stop by the 50+ forum (farther down the main BF page) and say hello to the other old timers. I hang out there. I'm 69 and there are several who are older than me.
