Hello Wisconsin!

Hello BikeForums members!

I'm new to the forum. I'm definitely interested in getting back into biking. I haven't been an avid biker since adolescence. I used to ride my bike everywhere! I even took a few long bike trips with my family and some with friends, usually in the range of 10-40 miles.

Today of all days my dad and I went biking. It is the first time I took a serious bike ride in probably a decade, and the first time him and I took a serious ride together since I was a young teenager.

We covered 30 miles. I was sore, grumpy, and tired by the end. The bike isn't fit properly for my body and I can't handle the bumps as well as I once did, but I have to say it felt good to be out there doing it.

My goals on this forum are to first learn more about cycling as an actual sport and hobby (not just a convenient/alternate mode of transportation or an occasional rec. activity) learn more about the bikes themselves and what is and isn't quality, buy an inexpensive/reasonably priced bike, and then meet some people to ride with.

I'm looking forward to conversing and maybe even riding with some of you.

Welcome! The miles will get easier, and you'll get less sore and grumpy.

Plenty to learn here; the signal-to-noise ratio is pretty good.

Welcome to BF! Some good riding around your area. Once you build up your strength some, the Ozaukee Interurban/Oak Leaf trails are a fun, relatively flat and high speed ride that'll take you as far as you want to go. Great way to get between Sheboygan and Milwaukee while minimizing your time on those bumpy car filled county roads.

Thanks for the tips! I am going to do the. Old Plank Road Trail tomorrow. Stretches from Sheboygan to Greenbush. We'll probably just do 10 out and 10 back nice two hour ride or so.

Ive heard of the interurban trail...something about mink farm politics that made the state stop it short, apparently the original plan was to bring it to Sheboygan.
