Hello everyone!

First, I want to thank people for sharing their reviews and experiences on here as it has helped many others. I am what you would call a recreational and fitness rider at this point and just started road biking. Back in the 80's and early 90's I mountain biked a lot and was pretty heavy into it before it became so big. Since that time I got busy with other things as the years pasted and recently started riding again. I started riding my mountain bike on the road in the mountains and loved the leg burn, the more I rode the more I wanted a road bike since that is where I am riding all the time. I started surfing CL and looking at my LBS for a sweet deal since I am on a budget, and I would research reviews on here and other places to help make up my mind. I found a 06" Specialized Roubaix for $250 that was like new - I now own it! It came with a 105/Ultagra group on it, although, it worked for me I was not impressed with the drive train and had higher expectations of if after reading how popular the groupo was. After riding it several hundred miles I decided to give it a face lift since I was into it so cheap and expected to pay much more. I researched a lot of reviews and decided on a Sram Red or Force group (my mountain bike has Sram on it and I like the positive and directness of the shifting, whereas, with the 105 I was always wondering if it was fully engaged and I found myself looking back to see while fishing the lever. I also did not like how the cables of the older 105 shifters came out and looped in front). I went with Sram Red shifters, Sram Force FD & RD & brake set, 105 cassette, Campy crank, KMC chain, and Yokozuna cables because I got a sweet deal on these parts on Ebay all new for about $500 over several months. I was worried about the crank, shifters and chain working together, but after it was all together I exceeded my expectations and I havent had to make one adjustment since putting it together 600 miles ago. Well, its a beautiful day and the road is calling so time to get more miles in on this newby. Thanks again board!
