New Indianapolis Member First bike purchase
Hello all, My name is Luke, 24 year old male looking to purchase a new mountain bike and will be around reading and posting some questions.
Purpose of being here as i am looking for a new workout to get me back in shape. as since graduating college and having a desk job have packed on a few pounds.
I am 6'3 330lbs and am looking for a mountain bike that can support me using it on local trails in my area. Dont plan on extreme mountain biking or anything the bike but plan to do mostly trail riding with smaller jumps, hills, ditches and such. My budget for the bike is $700 or lower. I am mechanically inclined as i have worked on cars since i was 14 but as for my first bike i would like to find an off the shelf model that will suit my needs for the time being.
Any help would be appricated. and as of right now still learning the bike lingo so heads up on that.
I do understand that i will be looking for a hard tail bike with front supension with the price range that i have. So any recomendations would be great. Plan to go to BGI and REI local here to test some bilkes out. Assume that i will need a 29er for my size.

Welcome Luke. The folks in the Clydesdale/Athena forum can help you pick a bike. A mtn bike is not your only option. Good luck and have fun.

Hybrids are good too, a cross between Mtn and Road bike but not really for jumping and stuff. I started out on one and then move to a road bike. You are on the right track. Check the Clydesdale/Athena section of the forums and they will hook you up with the best suggestions. Good luck picking your ride!
