Newbie from Chicago
Hi Everyone,
I'm Will. I'm from Chicago (inner city, born, raised, still live). I didn't learn how to ride a bike till I was 20, and only rode 3 times on a loaner bike (a female friend's mountain bike).
Fast forward 11 years later, after significant weight gain (400+lbs), I started looking into riding bikes again. That's how I found this forum. Bought my first bike before the winter: 2013 SE Lager. Had to relearn how to ride, but it was technically my first bike (grew up poor).
Anyway, finally participated in Bike to work week and made it 6 miles round trip there and back. I also fell in love with tinkering with bikes. Sold the SE Frame and picked up a fuji track classic (looks like the 2007 model).
Here's the build (sorry for the artsy fartsy filter):

When I bought it, it came with drops, stock 700x23c road tires, and just the rear brake (my friend only added the rear for some reason).
I changed a ton of parts (and had fun learning).
2007(?) fuji track 50cm Single Speed
Parts Changed:
Handlebars: BMX style handlebars with specialized ergonomic grips
Brake Levers: Shimano BL-M421 Levers
Front Brake: Shimano Sora
Wheels: Alloy Wheels that came stock with the SE Lager
Tires: Continental Gatorskins 700x25c (couldn't fit the thickslicks because they were 28c)
Seat: Forte seat - Basically Performance Bike's biggest seat, "broken in" to my specs
Rear Brake: Shimano 105 (rebuilt after accidentally dismantling it).
It supports me well and I've ridden around the block with it. It rides smooth and I'm in love. I'm trying to save on gas and get in better shape with biking (and other lifestyle changes).
Anyway, sorry to be long winded, I've seen a lot of good support on this forum, so I finally wanted to break my silence.
Thanks!
