Another newbie

I am a fifty something, trying to regain my childhood activity. LOL. Well, really I am cycling because my husband decided I need a bike. I have a KHS TC-150. I live in the suburbs of St. Louis, with hills all around me. GASP, sucking wind going up all those hills, when I am so out of shape. Only been riding for 2 days. Glad I found this site and hope to gain some instructive advice.

Hello 1957 biker,

Welcome to Bike Forums.

Take many short rides for a while until your out of shape body gets adjusted to the bike.

Ask for help when you have a problem.

Welcome to BF! If you continue to do regular riding and continue to push yourself to go a little further and a little faster every week, those hills will get smaller and less steep with each passing week.

Keep a high cadence as in revolutions of your pedals going up hills .I did not start that way and had knee problems I am 56 and have been ridding 2 years.A good bike fit helps too.

Welcome. Take your time and enjoy the ride. It gets better and easier with every ride.
