Hello from VA
I have been reading this forum for some time now, and I decided to join in the fun. I started cycling not very long ago because my husband was spending all of our money on cycling and I decided to join the fun. I look forward to reading general bike info and venting about frustrating road rage experiences.

Welcome, hokie_girl. Glad you decided to join the cycling fun. Since you live in Southwest VA, for a change of pace you should try the Virginnia Creeper at least once. You need a mountain bike for that ride but the scenery is well worth the cost of renting one if you don't own one. This trail is located near Damascus, VA. I usually try to drive up there at least once a year to ride that trail and a few other trails in the area. Jeff

Hey, I know Blackberry. I once commuted on a Motobecane in Newport News and am looking to get another. Looking at sale prices with limited sizes, and have had little difficulty with larger bikes before. Any comments? Hokie, rail trails make for good rides. A good one is the Ringgold to Sutherlin ride near Danville.

Thanks for all the ride suggestions. I will have to check them out this summer. We actually have some neat mountain biking trails around here, and I've been tempted to give them a try since volunteering to help with trail maintenence a couple of weekends. I may have to rent a bike and see what all the fuss is about.
