Accustomed to life on the road
Hello from Istanbul,
I a rather new to the forum but have been on tour now for over a year. I am riding a vintage mountain bike, that was not designed for any specific purpose and I am told by many mechanics that my brooks saddle is probably more valuable than my frame. This tour is a pilgrimage, I am carrying my late fathers remains to his home town in southern China. But this trip is more than just a dedication to the man who took me around the world as a child, and inspired me to go outside my comfort zones, but a spiritual journey. A search for my true self. I have experimented with many different setups on past tours as well as on this one. I have always focused on comfort and durability and have lots of experience with choosing components that will last and be easy to overhaul. I hope to bring insight and information to other members of the forum and recommend great places to tour around the globe. Below is a picture of my beautiful world traveler Gabriela, a 1997 Gary Fisher Tassajara. -Julian Last trip with Baba | A 20,000 km bicycle tour returning my fathers ashes to China

Welcome to BF and congratulations/good luck on what sounds like the bicycle tour of a lifetime (or ten lifetimes)!

Thanks Lacumo! This trip has been the best time of my life, and at times feel like there might not be enough roads in the world to ride!
