Commuting is a gateway drug
Hi, everyone! Somehow I missed the introductions forum the first time around...critical reading skills FTW.
Two years ago, it had been seven years since I so much as straddled a bike after a helmet-nuking crash. I decided I hated driving, bought a low-end commuter bike, and left myself no way to get it home besides ride it! Two years of all-weather (well, no tornadoes yet) commuting saw me add a premillennial Trek hardtail for the winter crazy days and some summer off-road fun. This summer I upgraded my main ride to a Specialized Vita Sport--and either I'm a whole new rider or cycling is suddenly a whole new sport. Right now I have designs on some upgrades to my Trek, but first I need to learn bike mechanics basically from scratch. So I look forward to some productive eavesdropping! |
