Jersey Boy Newbie

Hi all -
Just received a Trek Verve 2 (blue) as a birthday gift from my wonderful wife today. The shop is making some final tweaks before I pick it up Monday. The anticipation is killing me. I cannot wait to ride that puppy after being away from cycling for more than 10 years. My Univega 12-speed road bike sits quietly in the garage begging to be ridden, but those drop handle bars just weren't designed for a 64 year old pudgy guy. And that old narrow saddle makes me numb in places I dare not mention here. Hopefully, the new Trek will be kinder to my aging body and provide cycling joy for many more years to come.

One minor problem...how the hell do I get my new Trek from the shop to my home 20 miles away, as I no longer own a bike rack? I could have bought a new rack but for one-time use it just didn't seem worth the expense. Solution...Rent-A-Wreck: Rent a bashed up cargo van for $15 to transport the new bike home. BAM!

See you down the road!
:bday:

My advice would have been to have your wife drop you off, then ride it home.

Having not ridden in 10+ years that 20 mile ride would have taken me 3 days with a stop at the ER along the way! But thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks all!

Thanks, Lacumo!

Thanks so much. Bike now resides in my garage. Got minor tweaks to do then I'm off to the races LOL! Lots of country roads to ride down here in the Pine Barrens. Looking forward to getting reacquainted with them from the perspective of a bike rather than thru the windshield of a car.
