Garmin Edge 800 Turn Alerts

Having problems with my Garmin Edge 800. After using just over a year with no problems, it started giving turn alerts for every curve in the road. So while following a gpx route for instance, where the next turn is 2.5 miles, it alerts me for every curve in the road, not just at the 2.5 mile mark. Distance to Next is also displaying next turn on say 450 ft, which is the next curve in the road. Tried every other suggestion I have found online and reset my device multiple times. Software is up-to-date and the same gpx files works on other 800s. Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Might be time for a new one.

My cameras only last about one year .

Welcome to BF! I’m going to guess this probably magically started happening right around one day after the warranty expired...

About 2 months after. Built in obsolescence. Lots of contact with Garmin support...which only offered ideas already tried. But latest is they are going to exchange my unit for a factory refurb...which is the best I could hope for.

For the price they should last longer.

No way. I've had my Garmin for seven years and after changing the battery last year, it's as good as new.

To the OP, try using it on a different .GPX file and see what happens. Also, try entering a destination yourself, either using an address or the points of interest functions and see if that works. Your issue could be with the file -- especially if everything else works.

Unfortunately, Garmin's support isn't always good at providing useful tips that can solve annoying problems with their devices. A perfect example is ride mileage calculation. Garmin devices are set by default to take that from GPS, but that won't be as taking it from the wheel sensor and manually entering your wheel circumference.

I would try a "master reset" to clear it of any configuration you have that might be messing it up.

Here are the instructions: https://support.garmin.com/support/searchSupport/case.faces?caseId={38fcc6a0-cd2c-11e0-cf56-000000000000**

Be aware that when you do this you will lose everything on the device, so back it up!
