Hello from little Delaware

47 years old, longtime casual around town rider.

Bought my first Trek there in my junior year in high school, still call it the best $349 I ever spent. It has had a few bits and pieces wear out over the years (new crank bearing, new rear derailleur, both rims replaced, replaced the Helocomatic cassette when I replaced the rear wheel, new brake shoes) but still is a very nice ride.

Started riding some of the trails in White Clay Creek and Middle Run over the last two years on my (actually my wife's little used, we are close to the same size) 1994 Trek 850. Newark is a very good bike town and there are two very nice trail complexes I can easily ride to. Really like off road now, not a crazy bomber but just like riding where there are no cars and being out in the woods :thumb:

Just picked up my first new bike in thirty years, Trek DS 8.3. Seemed like a good bike for my typical weekend rides. Mix of roads, bike trail, gravel, and some dirt single track. Front fork w/ suspension is a revelation, much easier to handle gravel/rocky paths/etc. than the old 850.

Welcome to BF and enjoy the new bike! My winter/bad weather beater is a ~$225 Diamondback hardtail MTB and I totally agree that suspension systems are wonderful things. Little does more to encourage and promote the extent of a riders cycling than a comfortable ride.
