Big toe problem.
Hi All and thanks for the welcome.
I am 68 years young and switched from Fell walking to mountain( gentle) biking about a month ago due to type one diabetes . Everything has been ok but I am having problems with my right big toe it's keeps getting bruised and sore on my longer rides. I have not been wearing proper bike shoes and I wondered if this could be the source of the problem. My left foot and toe are perfect no problems. Any advice would be great. yours Paul Waterworth |
Hey Paul,
Welcome to Bike Forums from a 72 year old diabetic Texas road rider. Time to see a Foot Doctor. |
Welcome.
See a foot doctor then get some proper shoes. |
Welcome to Bike Forums. After you visit the doc stop by the 50+ forum and say hello to the other old timers. I'm one of them. I'm 69.

Welcome to BF and good luck with the foot thing! +1 on seeing a foot Dr asap---this isn’t something to play doctor with. When I got my “best bike” a few years ago, I got a pair of slap-in-the-face expensive, high end cycling shoes to go along with it. The price of the shoes was ghastly, but the shoes are great and I don’t regret having spent the money. My feet get a lot less beat up on by the longer distance rides when I’m wearing the big bucks shoes. I turn 68 in less than a week, I have advanced osteoarthritis and I’m the orthopedic surgeon’s dream case (having had many orthopedic surgeries to date), so this shoe pitch isn’t coming to you from some LBS Al Bundy...
