Back to fitness!
Hi all!
New to road biking here. I'm 22, 5'11'' currently weighing about 200lb. I'm using this a way back to fitness as I fell victim to cancer and lost a heap of muscle mass and gained a lot of weight last year. Still fighting the after effects of treatment but so I will be taking things slow at first. I think I'm going to be taking cycling a lot more seriously than I first thought so this forum will be great to get some advice. Hoping to work my way up to charity rides and upwards to possibly competitive events once I am back to full fitness. I'm riding a Boardman Road Comp 2014 which so far I am enjoying but my brittle body needs to get used to being in the saddle as I get quite sore! Happy riding -Blake |
Hey Blake,
Welcome to Bike Forums. Take it slow... I started road riding at 65 years old. Nice bike. First ride on the new Boardman Road Comp 2014 - YouTube |
Hello Blake, welcome to Bike Forums!

Thanks for the welcome
I decided to go for something that might last me instead of replacing it in a year or 2 once I'm fitter. I've seen your post in another thread, you make sure to take it easy too. Best of luck with recovery |
Welcome to BF! You may be surprised by how long your “starter bike” can actually suffice if you don’t develop technical needs like a Tri, touring or freeride bike or something else specific. I had an old Raleigh 12-speed clunker that lasted me 25 years.

Welcome from a 74 yo. You inspire me. Keep up the good work and keep us informed.

Welcome blakeson,
Wow!! A "Boardman Road Comp 2014" You certainly know your quality. Carbon front forks. 'Tis only the stuff of dreams for me. Good luck on the recovery path. Jim |
Welcome. Good luck with the recovery.
