Hello from Oakland, CA
Hi there,
My name is Jackie. I'm 48 (turn 49 next week) and I'm from Oakland, CA. I came across these forums last year when I was thinking about getting a new bicycle and was doing some research. I was a big bike rider as a kid and teenager, shifting between both new bikes and hand me downs. When college rolled around and I moved from home I stopped riding but picked it up again when I moved to California in '89. Even then I was a sporadic rider, selling off my bike to a friend once we moved to an apartment close to downtown which meant I could either walk or take the bus to work. I eventually bought an '06 Marin Larkspur for commuting but didn't find myself riding it just for the sake of riding.
Last year I took the plunge and got a Soma Buena Vista. To say that I'm absolutely in love with it is an understatement. My partner inherited the Marin and we had it upgraded for her so we both ended up with bikes that we love. I ride with a group called Red Bike and Green and we just held a city wide bike ride called Tour de Town last weekend.
Hope to learn a lot while I'm here.
