Hi From Texas

Hi iam Dougie

I live in the south plains of Texas, iam formally from the U.K.and have been riding mountain bikes since I was about 17 iam now 42 I have ridden trails around the Folkestone area in south Kent, England and I have ridden some good trails in North Yorkshire Dales, where i lived for about 15 years. I now live in the south Plains of Texas where it is as flat as a pool table. The bike iam riding now is a modified Barrcuda Thiller it has suntour xcm forks and airjet rear shock, shimano mechanical disc brakes, shimano rapid fire shifters shimano crank and rear cassette. All thats original from the bike I brought is the frame, handle bars and seat post. The frame is a little heavy but I have broken a couple frames while riding trails so this bike is able to put up with the rough trails.

Welcome to BF and Texas. Not sure where you are located but there might be some hills or mountains not too far away. Big Bend has some real hills.

Welcome!

Health & Safety Requirements for Tejas:

Never cross a fence line w/o the owners' explicit permission.

Watch for rattlesnakes sunning themselves on the trail.

Do Not get snippy when Border Patrol agents stop you for a chit-chat.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I live near Lubbock, Texas. I have lived here for 5 years now. I have never looked for a mountain bike forum before as I have always known where to find good trails. All I have found to ride here are country roads and they are good for exercise but I would like to ride something more challenging than a dirt road.

You should look at the West Texas Cycling Association. They have a number of rides out your way.
My website Texbiker.net might help you as well.
