late introduction

Hello fellow forum users-

I've tapped into the information available on this forum for years and made an account a while back, but am just getting around to introducing myself now!

My interest in cycling and bicycles is primarily as everyday vehicles, which then, I suppose, could be divided into different subtypes of use, ranging from commuting to work, running to the store, weekend recreation, exercise, travel, etc. I build up my bikes from as many used parts as possible, making use of what people no longer want or need, and I encourage everyone who asks about getting a bike to buy used.

Another relevant interest is sewing- I just made my first frame bag a couple weeks ago, I made a backpack, a duffle bag, and a few totes. All from recycled, upcycled, or second-hand/"N.O.S." fabrics and materials. My next/current sewing project is a practical multi-modal pannier, and I am turning over ideas for a handlebar mounted camera bag.

And, here's my lurking reason for finally introducing myself. If you have any ripped, damaged, or otherwise unusable panniers with functional hardware that you're willing to part with, let me know! Same goes for any bike parts- just take pictures of what you want to get rid of, post them here or PM me and we can arrange shipping costs. I hope to develop my pannier and bag designs into something I'd be confident that others would want to use, at which point I'd probably post the designs online for free and sell complete bags (I just don't want to spend all of my time producing...)

If you have any questions for me, ask away! I have built up my share of "frankenbikes" so if you have questions about parts compatibility or need a solution to a problem, maybe I could help...

Feel free to check out my instagram page- my username is on_two

Cheers and welcome to Bike Forums.

Regarding your reason to introduce yourself: check out our Classic & Vintage forum. There's a whole "ISO and For Trade" thread there, plus the "Box of Crap" thread where people get rid of parts, tools and whatnot. Please see those first. If they don't fit the bill, suggest something else and we'll look into it.
