northern maryland newb- just getting back into biking!
hey all-
i'm just getting back into biking after a 4-5 year hiatus (almost all of college i didn't bike at all). my bike up until that point was a 1995 trek 850 with minor upgrades- avocet tires, minor upgrades to components as the stock ones failed one by one.
i've really started getting on a health kick as the spring is beginning and i truly miss being out on a bike and the feeling of freedom that comes with it...so i made a purchase on ebay a couple days ago, a 1998 trek 7500 frame with tons of upgrades to make it a near-perfect bike for what i will use it for (mostly road and some light trails).
https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WDVW
that's the bike i purchased. my fiancee will also start biking for her first time- she has never been on anything but a wal-mart quality bike until now, and we're debating purchasing a new trek 7200fx from our LBS here in westminster, MD.
looking forward to learning a lot from everyone here!

I used a hybrid for years for commuting, and longer rides that included light trails - that kind of bike should serve you well.

Welcome, Ben. I am glad to hear that you decided to adhere to those words of Gene Autry and are "back in the saddle again." It becomes even more enjoyable the second time around. Best wishes to both you and your fiancee.

By the way, I suggest https://baltimore.craigslist.org/bik for buying used bikes (say, for your fiancee). I've gotten good deals on two bikes on there.
