Hi from Bournemouth, UK

my first experience of being enthusiastic about putting bikes together came with BMX. I worked in a BMX/skate shop in order to afford a dream-build; one I'd be proud to own today. I continued working and riding throughout the mid 90s until I got broke, and gradually sold off the bits I'd chosen so carefully; swapping each for cash and rejected bits I could get my hands on. Eventually I sold my frame; a yellow S&M Holmes; imo the most handsome BMX there ever was.

I ended up replacing it with a mtb, and in trying to get in amongst that scene, had all passion drained out of me. In fact it turned me off bikes altogether.

Now, somewhat refreshed; all cells replaced, I've grown a little smitten for the clean lines of classic track frames. With a view of losing a few pounds, and saving a few (cycle to work scheme), I have started researching and sourcing parts to stick on what will be my first dip into fixed gear riding.

Due to the limitations on the cycle to work scheme, I am hoping to start off with a Cinelli Mash Parallax; which isn't the most elegant of frames, but caught my eye somewhat; with a view of one day putting together a drop-dead-gorgeous, classic NJS slave bike.

I won't be told track bikes are for the track only, no more than I will be told basketball shoes should be kept on court - re-appropriation has its merits.
