Greetings from far southern Arizona: Sierra Vista
Greetings all, I'm Jason. I recently (Last 7-8 months) have started to bicycle to work and around town with two goals in mind: One, to save money that I used to spend on car repairs, gasoline, and insurance and two, fitness. My various doctors have given me grief about my blood pressure and weight off and on for years.
My bike (for the moment) is a dirt cheap Huffy bike I picked up at a local big box store for under $200. I've already had to replace the back wheel with something far stronger then the cheap stock one to support my bulk. I hope to upgrade to a lower end commuter bike (town is mostly flat and has a few decently paved bike trails) in a few months.
In time, I'd love to have a solidly built off road bike for 'bike packing' trips. I loved camping and used to do so a lot as a young man, and I hope to get back into it again.

Welcome! I grew up in Tucson, will be riding in El Tour de Tucson next week.
Funny, I remember Sierra Vista in the foothills of some very big mountains--9400 feet elevation--but you found some flat spots? Just joshin' !!!!

It is pretty high (town itself is 4600 or so), but I grew up in an even higher town so I'm used to it: Butte, MT (5500).
There's some serious dips and swells even in my short (3.3) mile commute, but their manageable even for my current level of fitness.

If you're interested, you can still volunteer for the El Tour de Tucson next Saturday. 9,000 riders from everywhere. Serious and fun loving riders, different ride lengths.

Hi Greyfell! I used to live and ride my bike in Bisbee in the early 1970s. I looooooove that area. I lived in old Bisbee above the Glory Hole. Great memories, but haven't been there in years
