Longtime Lurker Coming in from the Cold...

Hello,

I've been lurking on and off since 2010 when I returned to cycling. I had taken about 5-7 years off after having ridden for much of my adult life. It was time to return to the saddle so I could address my weight and other health concerns. I'm in SE Virginia and ride mostly with B+/A- groups on either my Trek Domane or Trek CrossRip. I jumped into randonneuring in 2012 and completed an R12 in 2013. The Super Randonneur achievement has eluded me so far. I'm a Clydesdale who recently lost 25-lbs. I was really close to dipping below the 200-lb mark for the first time in eight years. But I fell off the wagon and need to get back on my diet. I still hope to make it before the end of the year if I can stay away from my vices over the holidays.

I haven't figured out which sections of this forum appeal to me most. Regardless, I hope to spend a little time visiting and getting to know a few folks here.

Take Care,

Scott

Hey and welcome, Scott!!! Lots of helpful folks here you probably know if you've been lurking. I recently returned to biking after about 15 years away, but I have to tell you, it's even better than before. Ride lots and the weight will take care of itself, I'm thinking.

Thanks for the welcomes, everyone! I'm a seasoned forum user (just not here) and usually search for what I need. I'm a bit of a hunter of info. Therefore, I tend to find what I need and perhaps provide input to topics when I think I can be helpful.

Thanks. I rode ~4000 miles in 2012 and 5300 miles in 2013. 2014 has not been a good cycling year for me... maybe 3000 miles by the end of December. Regardless, my poor diet (or perhaps it's a "rich diet") is more responsible for my weight than my lack of riding. I think riding has helped my triglyceride levels, though.

HAHA! I like to be prepared for just about anything. So every bike I ride has about 3-5 pounds of stuff aboard that most others do not carry. Once I started randonneuring, I decided to create a website for the journey. Later, I created a YouTube channel to host some product reviews and experiences. I still "carry too much stuff." However, I've lightened my load a little since I've been riding weak this year. I hope to make a bit of a comeback soon.

Thanks Again!

Scott
