Hi and and question
Hey all
Didn't know where to put this question so thought since i am new to the sight I will introduce myself and ask question here.
Well i'm Neo and I recently decided to start riding my bike to work. I've bought myself a second-hand mountain bike and i'm currently in the process of changing some of the parts on it. My main on change will be the handlebars and brakes. My current plan is to get some bullhorns and have some shift/break lever (the Shimano ST-EF51s) on it.
My question is, is it easy to fit brakes onto the flat part of the bars and that's where my hands will be most the time? I only want bullhorns because I heard it is easier to ride uphill when placing hands on the ends and I the area I live in has loads of hills. My main worry is that when I am putting the brake on the part that grips the bar will snap as I move them around the bend of the bars.
I hope my questions makes sense. I very new to bike so don't know the right technical terms.

All bikes are different..Some parts are not changeable...Best to take it to a mechanic or bike shop.

It sounds like you may just want to add bar ends to your current bars and keep that setup. As mentioned above, not everything is interchangeable. I tried to put bullhorns on my fat bike, and there were brake lever and shifter issues. That idea got scrapped.
