New cyclist in Oklahoma

Hey guys. I'm coming out of Norman, Oklahoma. Growing up I always wanted what the kids in my apartment complex had plenty of... a bike. At the time, a bmx bike with pegs. As I got older, it didn't bother me as much that I didn't have a bike, and when I did finally get my own bike, it was a GT mountain bike that I really didn't have much passion for. I didn't care to ride it as I was heavily out of shape. It wasn't until I got my second GT, a silver one with thick black wheels, rims and all, that I actually liked riding bikes. I was riding 6 miles a day to and fro college, and if I needed to go to the store it was my means of transportation. Being a used bike, and not maintaining it, it broke, completely. I got a car, and that was the end of my bike riding. A couple years later my dad got into Road biking. He talked me into getting my own road bike, and it was a 2000 Fuji Roubaix that I picked up used for 180, with full 105 components. It was a quick little thing, but really beat up. During this time, I lived in a part of Oklahoma not too good for road cycling, and I didn't want to drive near 15-20 miles to the bike track just off downtown OKC, so I didn't ride much. I think a total of 5 times in the short time I had it.
Anyway, I sold that bike and that was the end of my cycling career... until now. I recently moved to Norman to start college there, having switched majors a total of 3 times, I'm finally where I want to be. I'm a stones throw away from campus, but it's a doozy of a walk if I leave my place 6 minutes before class. I had a revelation that I really, really want to get in shape as I'm 5'10, 260lbs (though I don't look even 230lbs) and I had a burning desire to get a bike. I was looking into the walmart bikes (Schwinn phocus 1400 and 1600) and really liked the look of both. One thing led to another, I obtained my pride and joy.
I picked up a brand new 2013 Fuji Sportif 1.3 54cm for $650 out the door, and really love this thing. Being an entry bike, and under 700 bucks, it has what other bikes this price range doesn't. Sora shifters, sora front derailleur, and a Tiagra rear. It's nothing special, but for me, it's a lot! I picked her up Monday 12/15 and have ridden her quite a bit. At first it was going to be strictly fitness, but having, seeing, and riding her turned it more into Fitness/Hobby. I enjoy it so much. It rides 200x better than the Roubaix ever did. Again, I know it's nothing to write home about, but I'm proud to own it. Maybe after a year or so, I'll be seasoned enough to notice differences in groupsets, and I'll possibly upgrade my derailleur's, but as of now, I'll only consider saddles and wheelsets. I really want some sweet deep rim clinchers, but they're so expensive! Anyway, here's a picture.

Got the bottle holders free of charge, polar ice bottle for dirt cheap, pouch for cheap as well. Looking into getting a computer, light set, and my personal attire (gloves, riding shorts, maybe a jersey, and I really want to try the clipless route). The pouch has since been mounted correctly. It sits much better than that. I was too tired to do it correctly for the picture, but rest assured, it's now seated the way it's supposed to be
