New from Arizona - CAAD 10 Shopping 105 or Ultegra?

Hello everyone,

I am a road cyclist from Arizona and have been doing more and more miles on my current bike which is an entry level aluminum bike with Sora and Tiagra compentry. I have recently completed my first century and am doing as many miles as I can whenever I can! It's fair to say I have the bug now!

I am now in the market for an upgrade and have my heart set on a Cannondale CAAD 10. The only issue is I don't know which one to pick. I know I prefer the black color and I know I should invest in 105 or higher based on what I have heard and read.

I guess my question is should I save up a little longer for the Ultegra model?

I know there were some year end specials on the 14 bikes but I seem to have missed those in the 58cm size I am looking for. I don't really want to spend more than I have to but understand a little more may be an investment to save future upgrades?

I hear new 105 is as good as Ultegra just a bit heavier? Any thoughts welcome?

Also are the Mavic Askium wheels a good bit better than the stock 105 CAAD wheels?

Any help or guidance to make a decision between these two options would be very much appreciated!!!!

Thank you in advance and happy holidays
