Back In The Saddle

Okay, I was on here before but its been years since I took a ride and I had stopped coming here well before that. So now I'm a VERY senior rider and I just took a short ride today since we're having a freakishly warm day in the mid-atlantic. I intended to take the obligatory New Year's Day ride but chickened out. Anyway, my wheels today were a Bridgestone Comp MB-2 from 1989 that I bought new. Its essentially original although I have installed some new rims (laced new rims into the old spokes and hubs) and smoother tires for cruising around. This bike is actually a little too big for me for off-road use, and I have no idea why I bought it in 1990, but with the new tires its great for the street and most trails I would use.
I have sold my old road bike, a Trek 420-T, and that leaves me with the Bridgestone and a 1993 Trek 930 'Single Track' (no suspension) that really is my favorite. It just fits me perfectly and it was sheer luck - I bought it around 2000 from a local ad and the seller was just about my same size. He must have bought it from a good bike shop that made sure it fit him.
So, as part of my plan to get in better shape and hopefully be able to keep playing sax a few more years, I will be walking/jogging and riding a few days a week. Tell you what, I was huffing and puffing at times today on my five-mile ride and my legs were rubbery when I got home. But I was smiling.

welcome and keep at it. I am new to the sport myself and when I first started about a year and a half ago, I could only do a bit over 3 miles before I had to stop and rest....
