Bike Forums - Hello from New Orleans

Hi guys,

My name is Jon, I am a 26 yr old New Englander (Harvard MA 01451) living in New Orleans. I enjoy playing the drums, watching baseball, going to bars with my friends. I am currently working in the solar energy industry but will be leaving my job at the end of May to embark on a bike tour, which is what brought me here!

Two of my best friends are moving out of the city this summer. They wanted to mark the transition with an adventure. The first destination that came to mind was our college friends' film festival on the Greek island of Syros. One thing lead to another and we decided we'd get there by bike! With only two months to go the trip is starting to get real and we need to get down to routing first and foremost.

We are currently trying to decide whether to go down through eastern Greece to Athens, OR Western Turkey before ferrying to the island. Any experience you or an acquaintance has had with either route would be massively informative to our current decision making!
