Nobody can "make you feel" a certain way, by expressing an opinion on a topic. Perhaps that is coming from within you.

And how is that being a troll? So, only people that respond the way the OP intended are acceptable responses. Don't act like a total azz with your accusations. Lots of people aren't going to give up a vehicle for a total life on a bicycle. Please! It's a bike forum, not a membership of people that have inappropriate relationships with their bicycles.

I read through the posts and respond accordingly.

What exactly did I do to become a troll? I asked an honest question... I couldn't careless who drives and who doesn't. Every one else in my family aside from my mother have all driven. No ill respect towards anyone who drives.

My point was to see who didn't drive and why. That was all.

New is good! What did you get?

I have owned two vehicles in my life time. A '92 Mercury Topaz and an '02 Hyundai Elantra. Both times I had plans on getting my license but ended up selling the cars after about a year. The last time I owned the car was in 2010 roughly! I drove around town was the most I ever did without a license.

As you've seen, some of the regular posters disrespect those who don't drive, and derail threads that try to start a conversation about being carfree. I think they have an agenda...

But thanks for your interest in the topic. You have a good way of expressing actual carfree ideas, and I hope you'll stick around this forum. It can only get better when those who have no real interest in being less dependant on cars finally get bored and allow the forum to return to what it's supposed to be about. This is hard to do, but if you think somebody is a troll (and some here definitely are) try to ignore them. Converse with those who are actually trying to have a back-and-forth discussion, and remain respectful even when you disagree with them.

Alrighty then, so we got one guy who cherishes his auto. No problem. To each his own.

I'd like to see the senseless feuding come to an end in this thread.

You have different strokes for different folks, what's the big deal? Some people want to live car-free, some don't, what's the big surprise in that?

Too much hostility.

Does that model require 85% ethanol? Used to use them at work but they were unsuitable for traveling long distance due to the scarcity of gas stations selling the fuel.

Many of those that live car free do so with a goal of at least in part, simplifying our surroundings and reducing our overall impact on the environment. So needing a car to for example haul your camper and boat is kind of a non-problem. It points back to a time in our lives that was more cluttered.

I like the feeling I get on tour, where my whole world of personal goods including camping gear and clothing, stove and cooking and eating stuff, toiletries, electronics and entertainment devices, tools, etc all fit on my bicycle as I self power my joyful and simple adventure.

Screw the camper and the boat. I'll rent a canoe at okefenokee swamp

It is still in production. In fact the previous owners of mine traded it in for a new one.

Why would anybody post here if they have no interest in being carfree? What do you say to people who come on the Road Bike forum and start talking about how road bikes suck and they want to talk about mountain biking? But evidently, it's OK to come on the Living Carfree subforum and talk about how it sucks to be carfree, but you really love cars.

This is the description of the subforum provided by bikeforums.net, in case somebody never noticed it:

Do you live car free or car light? Do you prefer to use alternative transportation (bicycles, walking, other human-powered or public transportation) for everyday activities whenever possible? Discuss your lifestyle here.

My mistake, I must have thinking about the car at work (Malibu) that had the flex-fuel engine that required E85 fuel and got terrible mileage on it too.

To answer the OP's question, it appears that he is still the only poster who has never had a driver's license, and may be the only poster on this list who stated that he bought several cars and drove them around without ever getting a driver's license.

I didn't get a driver's license until I was in my my early 20s, when I got a job that required me to have one. There's no reason to if you're not going to drive. I didn't drive without one though.

I can say as someone who's car light and would like to participate constructively, all the negativity about anyone who doesn't conform to some LCF ideal gets tiresome. Any attempt to confront it honestly and openly is repaid with mockery.
