Combining package delivery transit services?
Should transit and package delivery join forces to fund buses that provide both transit and package-delivery services along mutually-beneficial routes? Could transit passengers then work as delivery agents, carrying packages from the bus to addresses after exiting the bus?

Why the heck would you want to bother somebody and disrupt a persons bus commute to work and their personal time by putting some extra demands on them and have them do things which really are not their responsibility ??....We already have thousands of delivery people and services out there to deliver packages...What's next ??...should all bike commuters be required to deliver packages along their commuting route ??.

I don't know if it is still done, but decades ago anyone could ship a package via Greyhound bus lines. Probably Trailways too, but my first hand experience was with Greyhound.
You still had to drive to the bus station and walk into the shipping department, much like going into a post office or UPS store. Except the package drop off and pick up points were few and far between for bus companies.
If I remember correctly, it was really suited for moving large packages that exceeded the size UPS or FedEx was willing to handle back then. But, still small enough to fit in the luggage compartments under the seating section of a bus.

Besides, the market is taking care of delivery of packages. Amazon is moving away from UPS and FedEx in great strides with their contractor owned delivery vans. If Amazon thought bus riders would have cut costs and decreased delivery times better than contractor owned vans, Amazon would have done that.

How would you be able to make sure that the bus passenger actually delivers the packege?
Seem to me it'd be a recipe for a lot of awol parcels if you were to rely on transit passengers to deliver them to the final destination. Doesn't seem like a feasible idea to me.

The trouble with bus passengers around here is they usually don't own cars which would make "final mile" delivery by those passengers unfeasible.
Besides, the market is taking care of delivery of packages. Amazon is moving away from UPS and FedEx in great strides with their contractor owned delivery vans.
