Flats with Mr. Tuffy?
I've been using tire liners like Mr. Tuffy for a few years and generally, they
work. Last Friday I got a flat and when I looked at the tube it seemed that the Mr. Tuffy had abraded the tube at the place where the two ends overlap. The leak occurred right at the impression of the edges of the Mr. Tuffy. It has happened before where the leak appeared at the Mr. Tuffy overlap. I had let the tire pressure get so low that when I was carrying a load last week I could feel the tires squirm on corners. My hyposthesis is that when the tire pressure is low the Mr. Tuffy rubs on the tube a bit with each rotation and after enough miles it wears through the tube.
Anyone else with similar experience?

No problem with Mr. Tuffy strips here. I think you're right you're letting the pressure get too low.
Also some people tape them or cut them and that is a big no no.
I keep the tires at the recomend presure. I also talc the inside of the tire and outside of the tube.
Cheers.

I had this problem. Got rid of Mr. Tuffy. My Armadillos keep me relatively flat-free

tuffies are ridiculous out here...we're desert with goatheads that are like an inch long...in DC tuffies should be like steel strips with the lack of thorns ya'll have

I have to say that I once had a fine glass sliver pierce a worn tire and Mr. Tuffy. I always like to read reliability ideas.

typically my tires are covered with punctures, i don't bother pulling the thorns and stuff out, since this help air escape as well as a greater challenge for the stans liquid...
i've been riding mtn bikes out here for 4 years now...this is the only system that works out here...before using stans i would get a flat every single ride and some rides i'd get two....now i don't even bother carrying tubes except for epix

I've found that Schwalbe Marathon Plus are a good solution to flats. They are about as flat resistant as car tires. Before switcing to them, I got a flat a mont, even with Tuffies. Without Tuffies, it was a flat every two weeks or so,
